"how will i explain gay couples to my children”
if you can explain to your children that an immortal man in a red suit who lives in the north pole travels around the entire world on one night every year on a sleigh carried by magical flying deer i think itll be easy enough to tell them two people are in love
did u know ancient people used to think women were miracle workers because they magically produced babies and they were worshipped and revered but then one day someone figured out the D had something to do with it and then the dudes figured they were most important and elevated themselves to the higher status

Thanks to lovely Zain for the Stiles manip!
Stiles is sitting on the couch next to Lydia and Danny. They are talking about something NASA related and even though the conversation is interesting enough and the people discussing animately are attractive enough for this to be a perfect popcorn moment, Stiles can’t help but be distracted by the scene happening in front of them.
Scott has brought Derek a cup of egg punch. That doesn’t sound like much, admittedly. But they are standing next to the window, alone, and they are talking. Stiles can’t really hear what they are saying, but he knows both of them enough to know it’s a good conversation. He can tell by the way Scott is all soft smiles, by the way Derek is less hard lines. There’s just something about the two of them together, getting along, that makes Stiles happy.
He gets up, new werewolf camera in hand. It’s an invention from the multitalented Lydia, after years of everyone complaining about the lens flare and the impossibility of taking group photos.
"Come on, guys." Stiles points back and forth between them and his camera as he approaches Derek and Scott. "I don’t think I have a photo of you two together."
Derek groans instantly but Scott beams. He leans on Derek’s shoulder. “This good?”
"Yeah, dude. Perfect." Stiles is smiling a broad, open smile. He loves the picture they make in his viewfinder and says a little prayer to be able to capture it, for Lydia’s invention to prevent the werewolf eye flare. "Come on, say cheers!"
"Cheers!" Scott almost shouts. And that’s when the most amazing thing happens.
Derek smiles. He actually, honest to god, smiles. He turns to look at Scott, judging eyebrows in action, but it’s all pretend because he’s smiling like an idiot. And he doesn’t stop smiling, even when he turns back toward Stiles and looks at the camera. And alright, Stiles may need a few too many seconds to recover, but can anyone blame him? Because hot damn, Derek barely smiles but when he does… it’s like he lights up the whole room. Stiles can’t even hear the other people in the room, all he can do is stare.
Scott bounces a little, hands going to Derek’s shoulders and squeezing. “Come on, Stiles!” He leans on Derek, forearm on his shoulder, his other hand in his pocket. Scott looks so relaxed and at ease, it’s perfect.
Stiles has taken so long, Derek is starting to look uncomfortable. He will never admit to it, and no one would dare to say it anyway, but he’s even kind of blushing. Stiles hides his smirk behind the camera as Derek crosses his arms over his chest. He’s trying to school his face back to a more blank expression but it’s obvious he can’t. And when Stiles finally takes the photo, it’s actually perfect. Even more so than he anticipated. They both look good, like themselves, but relaxed around each other in a way that makes Stiles want to actually print the photo and frame it.
"Let me see," Scott asks, moving toward him. And Stiles just passes the camera. He can’t help but steal a glare at Derek, waiting to see his face the moment he sees the photo. But it’s Scott that surprises him. He’s looking down at the picture with such fondness, something in Stiles’ throat catches.
"Not because I took it, but the photo is awesome," he jokes.
Derek rolls his eyes, but there’s something warm in the way he looks at Stiles and then he’s accepting the camera from Scott and looking down at the picture with a small smile on his face.
Scott goes to Stiles, circling his shoulder. “Let’s have a drink.” He circles Derek’s neck too and brings him along with them. “I wanna toast to the two of you.”
They end up with a glass of champagne each and when Scott brings his up, he just smiles and says, “to us.”
